Pongal – Oh – Pongal

We went home to Coimbatore to celebrate Pongal. Its my hubby’s place. My mom was already cribbing that I couldn’t make it to Chennai. All consolation done – told her that I will come there with Sri for the next function. Everybody wants to go home for Pongal, I’m sure, because when we tried booking tickets couple of weeks earlier, we remembered that only we thought we were early enough. We had tickets with waiting list of about 180. Not a chance. We then decided to take the bus to Cbe. Most stupid decision ever I’d say. Well, it got quite more than offset considering the fun (read as food) we had there. We got just the last but one row seats in the bus and with the “awesome and amazing” roads, we could all but sleep during our almost 9 hour journey.

How could I thank my m-in-law!!! Aloo curry, chakkarai Pongal, sambhar, vadai, appalam, chips – all after a long time. Cooking and eating all by yourself has its effects. His folks felt that I had lost weight. Those whatever-micrograms I had tried losing, I gained them in kilos in just two days. Yummy food! Next day, i.e Sunday – even better. Vella Saadham, Thengaai saadham, puliyodharai, morr kuzhambu, koorkhai, beetroot, thayir saadham, vadam, chips. Very light snack in the evening – Poori Masal. Aiyo! Wonderful. Amazing!!!!! Happy Pongal, indeed :) !!!

Who wants huge organizations???

I mean like, see, look at Infosys, seems it has close to 50,000 ppl working for it. And we here are already around 5,000 ppl strong. Crowded!!!!! Eeeeks. I hate so many ppl at a time. Why am I here then? Sorry, the minute you thought of asking me that, you just lost your right to question me. These big places complicate things. Life could be simpler. Oh…even when we were doing C.A, Ramya and I used to wonder what was wrong with the barter system. I appreciate that man invented so much, but finance is too much to cope with. Both mine and others’! The point here is the minute the company is huge, control is lost and special control policies and procedures are brought it. A separate department is created to monitor the rest of them. Department, sub-dept, so on and so forth. I loathe all these – arreeey…..aur kuch kaam nahin tha kya?
Is anyone listening when I am crying out loud for help from the bottom of my whatever – to change all this!!!!! Puhleeeeze elp me! Oxymoron-ish feeling – I like it but I HATE it too!

Time pass – gone for a toss

I logged in to the comp the day before, typed King Features Syndicate and then added it to my favourites. All I wanted to read everyday was Dennis the Menace. How I’d missed it all the time I was between jobs and did not have a regular access to comp! First shock when I walk into this office is that I cannot access my mails and non-business related sites! I was crossing my fingers when I typed in the web address of King Features. So happy that I could log in there….it hit me like a bolt of thunder when I noticed it!

The comic strip did not change yesterday……well I accessed it first thing in the morning and then I remembered, its Indian time morning which would still be yesterday in the United States- all right reasons for the clip remaining the same. But today?....then I read up a link at KF which informed its patrons (me too!!!) that they would henceforth put up the first week’s strips alone and update it the beginning of next month with the first week’s clips of the preceding month. This is because they were starting a pay-to-access service which would require me to shell out some loads of $ converted into INR (booh-hooh) to just view my fave-comics.

Okay. I set myself a mission. Find out other sites where u get the comic strip – mission defeated. As soon as I click the link on google- some one out there finds out and says if I do that again – I would be chucked out of the office! Or say in diplomatic terms – I will be subject to disciplinary action. I need the dosh – otherwise I would have walked out of the office – just for Dennis!

Meter?????

One thing I am sure I have done away with in this blog - for sure - might not consider incorporating it even in future - 'Site Meter'. Its so depressing ....every day you log in and find that you alone are contributing to the meter numbers! I dont need to know how many times I have visited my site....and the pains i took to make it reach a hundred! God, I realised that even I couldnt stand reading my blog. Why expect all those betrayers ?(read as friends) Grrrr. I am angry at myself........ as I had blogged....i am learning! :)
